Scientific Name: Struthio camelus
Ostriches were introduced from South Africa from 1869 to parts of Vic, NSW & SA for their feathers in the fashion industry, when Ostrich feathers were no longer favoured in fashion the Ostriches were let loose. Only feral populations remian, north of Port Augusta (SA) and Barham (NSW).
