Birds of Australia
Common Name: Channel-billed Cuckoo
Scientific Name: Scythrops-novaehollandiae
Channel-billed Cuckoo being feed by the host bird, a Pied Currawong.
The Channel-billed Cuckoo is a nest parasite, the female lays an egg in the hostbird's nest when the host mother is busy with the many other birds chasing the male around who is acting as a decoy.
Sometimes when the female cannot find a new host nest she will return to a known nest giving the host birds the added pressure of feeding two Channel billed-Cuckoos.
